When in Jhansi, you are never going to get bored with your trip as there are many excursion spots with historical and heritage value for you to visit around Jhansi. These sites are all about 70 -80 km from Jhansi; thus eliminating the need of staying overnight anywhere.
Chitrakoot is found between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It was the home of Tulsi Das and is in the midst of numerous temples and relics which are all related to Lord Rama’s life. Some of these relics are Sphatik Shila, Ram Ghat, Janki Kund and Hanuman Dhara. Barua Sagar is a sleepy town that rose to importance with some historical events in the 18th century. It is found about 24 km from the city of Jhansi and is named after the Barua Sagar Tal which is a lake that was created over 250 years back. It was built when Raja Udit Singh of Orchha had built the embankment. You also find a magnificent fort here that gives you a wonderful view of the lake and surroundings. Samthar is located about 65 km from Jhansi and was formerly called Samshergarh. This was independent estate in the 17th and 18th century which was ruled by valiant Gujjar warriors. You should visit this place for great frescos found on the outer and inner walls of the palace. The famous dam built on the Betwa River; Parichha is about 25 km from Jhansi and is rich in scenic beauty. You get a great view of Betwa River and its reservoir from the sighting spot of the dam. And this reservoir is a wonderful place to visit for water sports like white water surfing. Another great excursion destination to visit while in Jhansi is Todi-Fatehpur, which is about 50 km from Jhansi. This spot spans an area of 5 acres where |
